We went in for our amniocentesis at 16 weeks. The procedure went well with no complications. The doctor took a long needle (4 inches) and, with the aid of the utrasound, stuck it all the way through to get the fluid. Here's the best picture that they took of the baby. The large blob above the baby is the placenta, which makes the picture hard to see.
After the the procedure, we got to watch the baby's heart beat and move its little hands in front of its mouth. It didn't like the procedure at all. Smart baby.
